Without air conditioner or big budget how to keep you cool on scorching hot days

It’s scorching hot around the world. It’s over 38 degrees celsius or more than it, which is over average human body temperature and could cause heat disease. There are some ways to keep you cool with some efficient and economic knowhow without even air conditioner.

Hold a frozen bottle when you sleep

Freeze a bottle after fill it water 80%. Pet bottle is good enough. Filling in full makes a bottle swollen, which is not harm though. Liquid becomes bigger when it is frozen. The bigger it is, the longer it lasts. Small frozen bottle melts in hours.

When a bottle is frozen, wrap it dry cloth and fix it with a rubber band to make the bottle dry and not to feel it too cold. Then hold it in your hand during sleeping. Holding a frozen bottle makes your body temperature down and helps you fall asleep. You could it even during daytime.

Wrap your neck with a wet cloth

Soak a thin cloth and squeeze it and put it around your neck. Put such cloth on your head, too. Either one makes you cool. When it is heated by your body temperature, wash and squeeze it and then put it on your neck again. You could use clean handkerchief, kitchen cloth or linen towel etc.

Make good use of cucumber

Cucumber is itself is so cool. Eating raw one or gherkin is ok. There are many recipes to cool cucumber. My way is simple and yummy. Slice a clean cucumber, put it bowl or mug, pour water in it and put it in fridge for one hour or so. You could add ice cubes in it.

Right before eating it, sprinkle salt and vinegar. Salt and vinegar helps you to be out of heat stroke balancing your ion in cells. No need to stand before a hob.

Cucumber and cold water makes you so cool immediately and vinegar is fermented healthy food that supplies you mineral and vitamin killing germs. Apple cider vinegar is proper. You could choose any vinegar as you want.

Draw thick velvet blackout curtains

Make your space is dark and you feel cooler on scorching days. Blackout curtains are beneficial to block sun rays and heat. Velvet blackout curtains are more useful. Please be careful to order. Some blackout ones are thin.

Use bamboo seat or mat in bed and chair

Bamboo seat in chair or mat in bed is cool to sit or sleep on. Your bum and body is not sweaty on bamboo seat or mat. Because bamboo has such characteristic by nature. Bamboo seat in a car makes your bum cool being free from sweat.

Use linen cover or wear viscose rayon

If possible, cover your belly, pillow or mattress with linen while sleeping. There is so cool and economic viscose rayon instead of linen. Viscose rayon is recycled material made of pulp or linter and it is used for underwear, lounge wear, shirt, blouse and dress.

Covering you with just a normal duvet cover without duvet is cool itself. Or just sleep without any cover in bed.

Don’t use oven

On a scotching day, don’t turn on oven. It works as a heater. Oven heats air at home and circulates, which makes you feel hotter. Using a hob is good enough. Or cool food is better.

Wear Cooling scarf, cooling item for neck and arm

There are some man made cool scarf and cloth for your arm and top that last about 2hours. You continue to soak it in cold water to keep it cool if it’s available. Once you buy it, its usage is almost eternal. Before you use it first, wash it clean.

Korean call it a neck cooler. It’s made of ice polymer. Put it in cold water for 2 minutes or 5 minutes and put it around your neck. Its coolness lasts for 30 minutes ~ 2 hours even on a hot day. After using it, put it back in cold water. Then it gets cool again.

There are portable electric fans. One type is in hand after charging. The other type is to hang around your neck after charging. You could use it wherever you go.
